Opera browser comes with a built-in sidebar which appears at the left-side of the browser window. This sidebar provides direct and quick access to many useful tools such as AI services such as Opera’s native Aria AI, ChatGPT and various chat messengers such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.

Opera sidebar also displays icons to access the browser’s native services and tools such as My Flow, Wallet and Mini Player. The Mini Player is a simple media player that allows users to listen music using various online media streaming apps such as Apple Music, Gaana, Spotify and YouTube Music.

When the user is listening to a song using the Player app, he can just hover the mouse cursor over the Mini Player’s icon present in the sidebar and Opera shows a tiny fly-out to access certain media playback control options such as play/pause and play previous/next.

Following screenshot shows the default Mini Player fly-out appearing in Opera web browser sidebar:

As you can see the background of the mini player fly-out is White with no information or preview of the currently playing song. Also the size of the fly-out is very large and many Opera users don’t like this rectangular basic mini player design.

Did you know Opera developer team is working on a design overhaul for the mini player fly-out? Future versions of Opera web browser such as Opera One R2 will come with a redesigned Mini Player fly-out which will have dark background and information about the currently playing song.
