Everyone knows that iPhone doesn’t allow users to record phone calls due to legal and privacy reasons. iPhone owners were looking for workarounds and 3rd party apps to enable call recording feature in their phone. Most of the 3rd party apps available on App Store are fake and don’t work. Some genuine call recording apps utilize 3-way call conference functionality to record calls but this process is very complex.

Some advanced iPhone users were taking help of jailbreaking to implement call recording feature. Unfortunately, newer iOS versions and iPhone models can’t be jailbroken.

Recently Truecaller app also started providing call recording feature to iPhone but again it was based on the call conference feature and iPhone users were required to make a call to Truecaller servers manually and merge the incoming/outgoing call to record the calls.

iOS 18 to Allow iPhone Users to Record Phone Calls Natively

iPhone users were requesting and complaining about the missing call recording feature since many years and finally Apple has decided to put built-in call recording feature in its native Phone app.

Apple has officially announced that the upcoming iOS 18 will come with built-in call recording feature inside the improved Phone app. Here is the official description taken from Apple’s official website:

Phone: Record and transcribe a live call directly from the Phone app. You can also search call history more easily, dial smarter, and switch SIM cards seamlessly. Just hit record in the Phone app to capture audio recordings and transcripts. Apple Intelligence generates summaries of your transcripts, so you can get to the most important information at a glance.
