[Review] New Light and Dark Dynamic Themes in Opera One R2 Browser

Recently we told you that Opera team is going to revamp the Opera web browser in upcoming versions. The developer team is planning to given a UI design overhaul to Opera browser by introducing many UI changes and improvements.

The new refreshed design will appear in Opera 113 or 114 versions that are scheduled to release later this year. Opera team will announce the new browser version as Opera One R2.

A testing developer version of the upcoming Opera One R2 is already available for download and installation. Advanced users who want to test drive the upcoming UI changes and enhancements, can download and install the Dev version in their computer system.

The most interesting and eye catching feature of Opera One R2 will be the introduction of new dynamic themes that will completely change the look-n-feel of Opera web browser and in this article, we are going to review the new dynamic themes present in the upcoming Opera One R2 web browser.

The dynamic themes will feature animated wallpapers or backgrounds and will also add sound effects to certain browser events such as keyboard typing, selecting menus, opening/closing tabs, etc.

Opera One R2 will come with following 3 dynamic themes built-in:

  • Classic
  • Aurora
  • Polar Winds

Classic theme will provide a classic look-n-feel to users with a touch of modern user interface. Following screenshot shows the new classic dynamic theme available in Opera One R2 browser:

You can notice a smooth and cleaner UI with slightly changed colors in Opera web browser. The classic theme will come with both light and dark modes and users will be able to change the background wallpaper according to their requirements.

The Aurora dynamic theme will be a dark theme and will come with dark animated wallpapers and new sound schemes. Following screenshot shows Aurora dynamic theme live in action in Opera One R2 browser:

The Polar Winds dynamic theme will feature a light UI along with new light colored background wallpapers and sound schemes. Following screenshot shows Polar Winds dynamic theme applied in Opera One R2 web browser:

Users will be able to select or change these dynamic themes using the Easy Setup menu in Opera One R2 browser. Just click on the Easy Setup icon or button present in the right-side of the address bar and you’ll see a new section “My Themes” available at the top of the flyout.

Now click on “Choose Theme” button and Opera browser will open a dialog box containing large thumbnails of all 3 dynamic themes. Click on any desired theme and Opera browser will show next screen to customize the theme elements such as background wallpaper, turn on/off sounds, animations, etc.

Now click on “Set Theme” button and it’ll immediately apply the selected theme to Opera One R2 web browser.

You can also edit or modify the current theme by opening Easy Setup flyout and clicking on the selected theme thumbnail. Opera browser will launch the customize theme box to modify the theme elements.

You can also change the color tone to calm, cool, warm, vibrant or other desired color tone. You can also apply your desired image as background wallpaper by clicking on the “+” icon.

Once you have applied more than one theme in Opera browser, you’ll be able to quickly switch between themes by pressing Alt+Shift+T keys together.
